  KNOWN ISSUES / BUGS

Issue with random named FP created spool files, if you do below on the printers then you will get non FP spl files and the file names that spool queue viewer can track.

i.e. you should get e.g. 00001.SPL   not FPxxxxx.spl files in folder: C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS\

this tends to apply to print servers.

NOTE: you will need to reboot aftermaking these changes.

To Turn Off Spool File Pooling on a Per Printer Queue-Basis

1.    Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

2.    Locate the following registry subkey, where <printername> is the name of your printer: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers\<printername>

3.    In the right pane, right-click SpoolDirectory, and then click Modify.

4.    In the Value data box, type the location where you want the spool files to be stored. For example, type c:\windows\system32\spool\printers as the default location.

5.    Quit Registry Editor.

6.    Restart the Print Spooler service.

All new jobs will be of the form XXXXX.SPL and XXXXX.SHD and will be numbered consistently with their JobIDs.

NOTE: you will need to reboot aftermaking these changes.

You can do it for all if you prefer:-

Q. Prints never appear on the redirected printer when using shared printer
A. When sharing make sure below option “Render print jobs on client computers” is unchecked (by default it is checked), then the software should have control over the .spl files on the machine where spool queue viewer is installed and where the printer driver is installed.

Q. Can't set print to redirect - Access Denied.

A. This is due to permissions, for general users what you do is re-install the printer driver under that user (not admin) using LPT1: port (note: no printer needs to be attached), e.g. name it: HP 4000 PS DUMMY

Now set that dummy printer to redirect to other printers installed by admin or other user.
